windrunner powershot- how much damage if cancelled

    does it start at 1 and scale up to 360 linearly or does it start at like a minimum of 200 damage or what?

    it has a 1 second channeling and i want to know how much damage it deals if i only channel it for a fraction of the time

    360 x channel time as a real number.

    If you channel for 0.84 seconds, you get 360x0.84 damage.

    Close, but not the full truth.

    The trigger looks for when you start the animation of the spell. Since Windrunner has a 0.3 cast point, she will start with 0.3 seconds of "charge". She will still channel for 1.0 seconds after reaching her cast point, meaning you have a total of 1.3 seconds of "charging" time, but the damage won't increase after 1 second.

    So the timeline goes like this:
    0.0s: WR starts the animation of Powershot.
    0.3s: She reaches her cast point. Mana is spent and spell goes into cooldown. If canceled exactly now, you'll deal 0.3*maxDamage to the first target.
    1.0s: Maximum damage reached. Charging after this won't increase the damage.
    1.3s: Powershot is released automatically. Still does max damage.

    Aside from that BorisPeace- is right about the linear scaling though. The "channel time" simply starts earlier than intended though (you might call this a bug).

    I never mentioned cast point since I thought it would delay everything. I thought the follow through time between 0.3 and 1.3 seconds was taken into account.

    That's what it should (presumably) do, but it doesn't. We can call it a bug, but since Icefrog limited the damage (even if the "charge" time is longer than 1.0 seconds), we could also assume that it once was a bug and got quickly changed into a feature.

    Channel time was reduced from 1s to 0.75s in stealth change so it will only channel an additional 0.05s after reaching max damage

    So, to clarify, one can get the full damage by releasing powershot 0.05 seconds prior to when it would otherwise be automatically released?

    Exactly. You just have to have some super-spider-senses to do that.

    Not worth practicing for a whippin' 0.05 seconds tho.

    Just cancel the backswing animation and you're good to go. 0.5 seconds is much more than 0.05 seconds.

    You refer to the rest of the animation wr performs after the arrow is released? And there's 0.5 sec of that?

    Yes. Windrunner's cast backswing is 0.5 seconds.
