I used a 512 texture atm but since it's very basic i can still change that without any effort, i just wanted to check whether the colors would work and how they'd look and ofcourse if my uv-map worked
i would put that to trail and error. since Dota2 textures are without shadows / lightning. and it's hard to determine how would the texture look without previous experience with the Game's rendering atmosphere or just testing it out
i think the Texturing guide by Valve covers this accurately

that's true though, take a look at the kobold taskmaster even though he's melee which is prolly the reason why he does stretch for his target.
