Best free public DNS server?

I need your thoughts and experience in choosing the right public DNS server.

Well very recently, my ISP's native nameserver got bugged up and now it's acting very slowly -- I've made this conclusion since the dl/ul rates are still the same as before, but the Waiting for www.website.com status in the browser's toolbar is longer and more prominent now. Also takes longer to resolve un-cached web pages and websites.

So far I've tried Google's Public DNS, the 8.8.8.8 ones. They didn't solve the problem.

    Neither did OpenDNS nor DNSAdvantage.

So any other suggestion? Or could this be not a case of DNS server in reality?

Wow, so many time outs. =\

BTW. 192.168.0.1 is my router, while 1.1 is my wimax modem.

    problems:

    • timeouts
    • waaaaaaaaay too many hops
    • going back and forth between 10.x.x.x and 120.x.x.x (wtf!)
    • 120.28.0.82 sudden increase of ping. might be normal though.

How should I solve this? =\

Or is this some sort of ISP QOS problem?

ideally, there should not be so many hops and loops.

    it should go from your router > modem > 10.x > a few 120.x > internet

the problem is obviously with your ISP's routing configuration and may be overloaded router.
