    Trying to understand how it works. Is this right?

    Dota 1:

    Attacks = edge to edge
    Spells (hardcoded) = edge to edge
    Spells (custom) = edge to center

    Dota 2:

    Attacks = edge to edge
    Spells = center to edge

    As I understand it, it's more like this:

    Attacks: edge-to-edge
    Spells: edge-to-edge
    Auras: center-to-edge
    EVENT_UNIT_TARGET_IN_RANGE: edge-to-edge
    TriggerRegisterUnitInRange: center-to-edge
    GroupEnumUnitsInRange: point-to-center

    That right?

    Don't know how it is in DotA1, but dota 2 is

    attacks and unit-target spells: edge to edge
    aoe effects centered on caster (e.g. war stomp, or any aura): center to edge
    ground-target: edge to point (and aoe of ground-target spells: center to edge)
    very few range-checking effects (flak cannon, split shot, cold feet radius): center to center

    Dota 2 Barrage is c2c? That's definitely a discrepancy, albeit a microscopic one.

    Aren't Flak Cannon and Split Shot based on Barrage?

    I thought it was clear enough that I'm talking about Dota2. There is no such thing as "based on" in Dota2. Each spell is individual.

    Sure, but you listed Flak Cannon and Split Shot specifically as working the same particular way in Dota 2, whereas they both work a different particular way in DotA 1 (because they are both based on Barrage). It's the fact they are based on Barrage in DotA 1 that let's me know there is a discrepancy.

    They are the only 2 I remembered. There are a few more spells which use center to center / point to center. But they are the minority (like 2/100).

    Cold Feet's aoe is point to center as well.
